Did you know that your Critique Group can get a grant of up to $500 to support different types of educational activities like workshops or field trips? The 100 Club Education Endowment provides cash grants for WSO Critique Groups to support these activities:

  • In-person instructor-led workshops where an approved instructor meets with the Critique Group participants to provide demos, hands on instruction and feedback to each participant.

  • Online workshops with live instructors where participants can watch demos, participate in interactive live discussions or Q&A sessions, work on their own related projects or post their work for instructor critique.

  • Recorded workshops with instructor demos, explanations of materials or techniques as well as resources followed by a discussion within the Critique Group on lessons learned.

  • Docent-led field trips to exhibits, galleries, studios, etc. where attended, through interactive discussion, can view art, learn about professional artists, better understand techniques or gain knowledge about art history.

Each grant can be in any amount up to $500, with one grant awarded per Critique Group annually beginning January 1st. The number of grants given out each year varies based on the 100 Club’s annual budget. Grants are on a first-come-first-served basis.

In 1984, when the 100 Club was established as a 501(3)c entity separate from WSO, it was funded with an endowment to supplement the WSO Awards given out to artists.

In 1995 a new endowment was created – the Educational Endowment Fund. The 100 Club wanted to further support to WSO members by providing cash grants for educational activities in support of WSO Critique Groups. The Educational Activity Program is designed to support several types of learning opportunities to allow each Critique Group to find an opportunity that suits their members, where they are located and the size of their group.
