2024 WSO Fall Convention

Salem, Oregon
Friday October 4 – Sunday October 6, 2024
“Colorful Connections in the Capitol”

Welcome to Salem, the city locals call the MOPO of Oregon (Most Oregon Part of Oregon), and the Watercolor Society of Oregon’s 2024 Fall Convention! We look forward to hosting artists and watercolor enthusiasts who will inspire you in your artistic endeavors. With the leaves changing color and the weather cooling down, Salem is lovely and lively, with much to see, great food, and fun adventures.

Our 2024 Fall Convention will again take place at the Salem Convention Center. Accommodation will be offered at the Grand Hotel, next to the Convention Center. Join us for a meet and greet on Friday evening, where we will meet and reconnect with new and old friends. On Saturday, there will be ten breakout sessions plus two juror critiques. In the evening, we will host the Artists’ Reception at Elsinore Framing and Fine Art Gallery, just two blocks away, where you will see the 80 accepted paintings. The gallery will be open Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from noon to 4:00 PM. After the Artists’ Reception, we can enjoy a no-host Social Hour, followed by the Awards Banquet at the Salem Convention Center.

After the Sunday morning business meeting, our Juror, Iain Stewart, will give a lecture and demonstration. Iain Stewart, NWS, AWS, is a renowned Scotland-born watercolor artist with several published books and videos and an international clientele. Iain was our online juror during the pandemic and is back by popular demand, joining us in person now. This year, the workshop will be held near Broadway Commons, located at 1300 Broadway St. NE, with onsite parking, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large classroom. We start Iain Stewart’s workshop on Monday, October 7th and continue through Friday, October 11th. Visit Ian’s website at stewartwatercolors.com . Juror’s Workshop registration opens May 1st. More information about Iain’s workshop and registration information can be found here.

Join us in Salem as we make colorful connections with our fellow artists and friends while enjoying the beautiful Willamette Valley. See you then!
