One of the best seasons in Salem is autumn! There are paths that lead through amazing vistas and river parks. Among them and close to the Grand Hotel and Convention Center are the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, the Riverfront Carousel, and Bush’s Pasture Park. Set amid a park with gardens, and the changing fall foliage, the domed Oregon State Capitol contains a collection of art by Oregon artists. Iain Stewart’s workshop will be held Monday through Friday, October 7–11 at Broadway Commons, 1300 Broadway St. NE, just over a mile from the Convention Center in downtown Salem.
Near the waterfront walkways you will find the Peter Courtney Minto Island bicycle and pedestrian bridge. If you’re into sketching or plein air painting, beautiful sights abound. The countryside surrounding Salem is loaded with vineyards. Some of the best wineries in the state offer wine tastings and wine pairings. October is the perfect time to enjoy Salem and the beautiful Willamette Valley.

- Willamette Heritage Center, situated on five park-like acres, has a Victorian woolen mill, early 1800s settlement homes and permanent exhibits exploring the experiences of Native Americans in the Willamette Valley and early European settlement of Oregon.
