About the Watercolor Society of Oregon
Welcome to the Watercolor Society of Oregon!
Founded in 1966 with 85 artists, the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO) is a statewide organization of almost 1000 members. The primary activities of WSO are holding exhibitions of members work and providing education opportunities, both for the members and others interested in the creation and appreciation of the visual arts.
During the Spring and Fall Conventions, 80 paintings are chosen for each show and are published in a 28 page, color Exhibition Catalog. Of those, 20 are selected by the juror to receive awards and travel throughout the state. Award winning paintings tour the state of Oregon for six months.
Workshops and Conventions
The Watercolor Society of Oregon also sponsors special educational events and workshops. The Society maintains an extensive video rental library and keeps the membership informed with the quarterly newsletter, the Watermark. Companies and organizations supporting the Watermark appear on the WSO Resource Links page.
Conventions and Exhibitions are held at various locations within the state. A list is available along with links to photos of exhibition paintings.
